Alfredo was born in Tondo/Manila, Philippines on September 26, 1941, the first born child of Valeriana Santos Serrano and Ramon Gil Aguilar Serrano. He grew up in Manila with his siblings; Zenaida, Remigio, Leandro, Cynthia, Felixberto, and Roland. Alfredo also met his wife, Rosario, in Manila where they went to the same elementary school, high school, and college. After college, he went to the Vietnam War as a Philippines civilian contractor for the U.S. Marines. When he returned, he married his childhood sweetheart and soon after had their first child, Augustine. Two years later they decided to immigrate to the United States where they settled down in Troy, Michigan, had their second child, Bernadette, and called it home for the next 40+ years. In 2010, Alfredo and Rosario left the Midwest life for Southern California so they could be closer to their beloved grandchildren; Sydney and Brodie from their son (Augustine and his wife Nancy), Hunter, Gabriella, and Nolan from their daughter (Bernadette). Being the Lolo to these five grandchildren is what made him most proud and he showed it with his self-proclaimed title “World’s Best Grandpa” sweatshirt. Alfredo passed away peacefully on the morning of November 13th, 2025 and is now reunited with his forever love of his life, Rosario. Memorial Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Parish (450 Corral Canyon Rd, Bonita, CA) on December 11 at 10:00am , with a Committal Service at 11:30 at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary (3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, CA).
