Angel Dagoc was born on October 1, 1920 in Mahinog, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. He was one of the 10 children of Isaac Dagoc and Patricia Ranoco. He attended High School in their province and decided to join the Philippine Army and left his town. This enabled him to travel and be assigned to Camp Olivas in San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines. At this very memorable place, he spotted our mother, Rafaela who was living in her sister’s house in front of Camp Olivas.
With the help of his friend Ruding, who was a neighbor of our mother’s sister, an arrangement was made to initiate regular courtship and finally winning the heart of Rafaela Sideco. The two decided to tie the knot on September 15, 1955 at the Espiritu Santo church in Manila, and began their journey of a very harmonious relationship. They were blessed with 6 children. One boy & 5 girls namely Monet, Lita, Annie, Pinky, Bot and Belle. From these beautiful children, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren were born.
With still a dream to finish college, Angel enrolled at the Harvardian College in Pampanga, pursuing law and finished at least 2 years in college. His work in the military as a staff Sergeant and serving the Country in World War II made us proud of his accomplishments. Finally because of the nature of his job and being assigned to different Camp locations, he left the Army and was employed in the Provincial Government at Register of Deeds on the Title Division.
As a government employee, he was always being commended by his co-workers for his honesty and dedicated hard work. He also had a passion for reading, going to movies, gardening, singing, and most of all, dancing to make people around him happy. He spent at least 30 years in government service and after he retired, he finally migrated with Rafaela to the United States in 1987 in order to join his daughter Carmelita and her husband Francisco Sibal.
Living in the U.S. gave Angel many unforgettable memories which include going to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and the list goes on. During his last years, he became sickly but regardless of his illnesses, he was able to celebrate his 50th Wedding Anniversary with his Wife Rafaela, and their six children. More recently, he was able to celebrate his 90th and 91st birthday, together with his family, close friends, and relatives from near and far. Despite his declining health, he still continued to have a smile on his face, and a very positive, happy outlook on life.
The Dagoc Family wishes to thank all the families, relatives and friends for their loving support, prayers and condolences. We are truly thankful for everyone who took part this final chapter of Papang’s life on earth, and for joining us in bringing him to his final resting place.
May God Bless You All
