Angelina was born on May 31, 1935, in Lanao, Philippines. Her parents were Emilio Marcial and Cristina Maglupay and she was the eldest of nine children: Oscar, Tomas, Emilio Jr., Alicia, Manolito, Aida, Antonio, and Danilo. Growing up in the Philippines, she enjoyed being a member of a dance team and playing softball.
Angelina married the love of her life, Domie Jomuad, on August 10, 1960, in Pagadian, Philippines. The happy couple were married for 62 years and raised three children: Clifford, Amelita, and Bella.
Shortly after getting married, the US Navy sent Domie and Angelina on a stateside adventure. They lived in Virginia, Florida, Hawaii, and Alaska, before settling down permanently in San Diego, California. Angelina was employed by the Federal government for twenty-one years as a cashier at the 32nd Street Naval Base Bowling Alley.
Sis Angie, as her church family fondly referred to her as, loved her Lord and Savior with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She was an active Parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church in Imperial Beach, California. She was a member of both the Cursillio and Daughters of Mary Immaculate where she enjoyed sewing uniforms for the beautiful ladies of the group.Angelina also had a heart for the young children and served as a CCD teacher for many years.
Tending to her orchids was one of Angelina’s most beloved hobbies. Her backyard was filled with the most gorgeous flowers that she put much love and care into for many years. She would often bring her orchids to church events to share the beauty of God’s creation with others.
Angelina took the title of Grandma very seriously. She lovingly took part in raising her 5 grandchildren: Justin, Lexi, Nathan, Luke, and Love. When her daughter, Bella, was recovering from thyroid cancer, Angelina and Domie took a year out of their lives to help care for Justin, Lexi, and the newborn at the time, Nathan. The special bond between Grandma and each of her grandchildren will never be broken.
