Dad, where do I even begin.. You left us way too soon and it’s been hard to process. I love you and miss you so much. I’m going to miss your phone calls, bugging me to buy your sour candies and the times when you would come to my door to make fun of my basketball/football teams during basketball or football season. Saturday mornings won’t be the same without you blasting your music in the backyard. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. You’ve always supported whatever decisions I made in life. You’ve touched the lives of many and that makes me proud to call you my Dad. Please continue to watch over us all. Khloe says hi and misses you as well. I love you Dad!
💓 always, daddy’s little girl.
I hope you don’t mind that I’m sharing this letter you wrote to me when you were still on the ship.

Uncle, you are always the one I can count on to visit and support us, whether it’s graduations, any functions, or just to visit for the weekend because us kids missed each other you’d all come drive down in a heart a beat. Words cannot express the feelings we all feel, all we can do is just reminisce of the memories! Ann would want me to come visit because you always made your special meal for me, Chicken Gumbo, we’d go to the commissary and get the ingredients and you’d cook it up! Oh to have your chicken gumbo! No matter how old we are, you always made sure and verified with mom that it was okay to go where ever we were going, Disneyland, or the cruise! Thank you for always caring, supporting and loving us all unconditionally! You scolded us all as your own, for that I am thankful to have you taking care of us! My Uncle I love you! I miss you! Watch over us all!

Uncle Jake,

My latest memory of you is when I got to spend late Christmas/my early birthday in Dec 2018 with you and all the family in San Diego. I will always remember your upbeat and happy self. May you Rest In Peace.

Love and miss you.

Uncle Jake, I always thought of you and Uncle Jim as the funny ones but you have a definite serious side. I remember when my family was going through a difficult time and you sat me down to have a real heart-to-heart conversation. You told me how I was now the man of the house and that I need to face life’s harsh reality head on. I’ve been running away from a lot of things and especially your passing. The world has lost a good man and the joy you gave but you should know that what you’ve given us will last forever.

Hey uncle Jake. I’m really at a loss for words. You were always there for me: growing up doin vacays, graduation, wedding, etc. and now you’re gone. I pray that you found peace. I’ll always remember your youthful demeanor. You were always kidding around and smiling. May He keep you close and bless you. Love you uncle.

Uncle Jake, you were taken too soon from us, and although we miss you immensely, we know you are resting peacefully with Grandpa. One of my memories of Grandpa’s funeral was of you. Before they lowered Grandpa, and everyone was saying their goodbyes, I remember you kissing the casket and saying “I love you, Daddy”. Now you and Grandpa are together watching over the Joaquin family.

During our early years as hospital corpsmen Jake and I were both stationed at Branch Medical Clinic NTC. Then we became classmates in IDC school. We were the only Filipino-American students in our class and the fun memories I can recall with Jake was playing the card game of spades during our breaks in between classes. Jake and I were partners on the card game and hardly anyone could beat us. He was a soft spoken individual and I never saw him upset or angry. He was very intelligent. In fact, he was our IDC Class top honor student. Jake, I will miss the chat with you every time we see each other during the evening out with our wives. Rest In Peace my friend. Rey Guadez
