Benjamin Albano Eliano Jr. lived a life full of love, laughter, and memorable moments. He passed away peacefully on the evening of December 8, 2024, surrounded by the music he loved and the presence of his close family. Ben left this world in his own unique way, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and cherished memories.
Born on October 13, 1968, in the Philippines to Antonia Albano Eliano and Benjamin Ginez Eliano, Ben was the youngest of three siblings, with his sisters Evangeline and Cecilia paving the way. At just four years old, Ben’s family moved to Hawaii, where the island spirit left an indelible mark on him. At 12, the family relocated to San Diego, California, which became Ben’s lifelong home.
Ben’s early years were defined by his mischievous sense of humor and a knack for making even the ordinary unforgettable. Whether it was pranks at home or adventures with his sisters, Ben knew how to keep life interesting. Though he occasionally found himself in hot water, his mother’s love for him was unwavering, and he remained her favorite despite his escapades.
In high school, Ben’s charisma shone brightly. As a b-boy, surfer, and class clown, he was admired for his energy and charm. He had a particular fondness for Madonna and developed an eye for life’s brightest colors—both figuratively and literally. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, whose laughter and personality matched his own. They married in 1990 and together built a life filled with love, raising four children: Jessica, Kristen, Jocelyn, and Nathaniel. Ben also stepped in as a father figure to his nieces and nephew, Josh, Vanessa, and Sarah. His dedication to family was one of his defining qualities, and his role as a father brought him immeasurable joy.
Ben worked hard throughout his life, attending trade school and becoming a skilled field technician for Konica Minolta, a role he held for an impressive 34 years. Wherever Ben went, he left an impression. His contagious laugh, sharp wit, and warm personality brightened the lives of coworkers and clients alike.
When not working, Ben’s passions came alive. From camping and kayaking to strolling along the beach with his beloved dog Kahlia, Ben found joy in nature and family adventures. He loved creating lasting memories with his children and ensuring laughter always accompanied their journeys.
Big Kahunas became Ben’s second home, where he built another family of friends. He was known for his storytelling, magnetic personality, and the way he could make anyone feel at ease. In these gatherings and outings, Ben’s zest for life was on full display. Later in life, Ben embraced his role as a grandfather, proudly doting on his grandchildren: Leilani, Danny, Calista, Max, Ezekiel, Marilena, Kiana, Dominick, Nayeli, AJ, Eliana, and Santiago. Time spent with them filled his heart, and though he often joked about handing them back to their parents, his love for them was unmatched.
Ben’s legacy lives on through his family and friends, reminding us all of the importance of laughter, hard work, and finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. Whether he was joking with his loved ones or enjoying quiet moments of reflection, Ben’s presence left the world brighter. He will be deeply missed as a father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Rest in paradise, Ben.
