

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Bessie Kelly Abalos Mozo was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Bessie will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Bessie’s life journey began on November 2, 1946. She first greeted the world in Sta. Ana Manila, Philippines. Her parents' names were Teofilo Publico Abalos and Aida dela Osa Elazegui. She was raised in Manila with two siblings named Camilo and Fermin. She graduated from Sta. Isabel College in 1962 and continued her education by attending Holy Ghost College where she was proud to earn her Associates Degree in 1964.
Bessie later met and fell in love with her sweetheart Virgilio Dionisio Mozo Jr. and the couple exchanged wedding vows on June 5, 1965. The wedding took place at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Manila. Having empathic and loyal hearts, Bessie and her husband Virgilio shared many loving years of marriage.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Bessie was blessed with three children, Beverly Ann Mozo- Mansueto, John Walter Leo A. Mozo and Gerard Lynden A. Mozo. Bessie worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs, raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment.
Later on, Bessie was blessed with the joy of seven grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Bessie enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Bessie worked diligently and did her best to succeed in each of her occupations. Bessie worked for the Associated Marine Officers Seamen’s Union of the Philippines for over twenty five years and later worked for Lindbergh Parking Inc. where she was employed for twelve years.
Bessie enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including spending time with her family and having a good time with her friends. She also loved eating out at her favorite restaurants, traveling to different places and collecting beautiful things. She was always happy and willing to share her time and interests with others.
Bessie Mozo left us on September 20, 2011. She passed away at Paradise Valley Hospital after fighting a brave battle against lung cancer. She is survived by her loving children Beverly Ann Mozo- Mansueto, John Walter Leo Mozo and Gerard Lynden A. Mozo; her brother Camilo Leopold Abalos; as well as many other family members and friends. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Mass was held at St. Charles Catholic Church in San Diego on September 26, 2011. Bessie was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Bessie was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Bessie leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Bessie Kelly Abalos Mozo touched will always remember her with a smile.
