Betty Lou Duke (Shackelford) was born Betty Lou Brown in Idaho Falls, Idaho on November 18, 1916 to parents Ernest D. and Lulu C. Brown. Betty was raised with her sister, Shirley (Debolt) and brother Curtis (deceased)
After High School, Betty attended beauty college. She was a hairdresser for over 30 years.
Betty married Van T. Shackelford in 1938. Together they raised 4 children: James Gary Shackelford, Bonnie Lynn Shackelford (Morgan), William Joel Shackelford and Cathie Lou Shackelford (Milstead). After Van passed away in 1977, Betty married William C. Duke and William and his children became part of the family: William C. Duke Jr, Barbara Minich, David M. Duke (deceased), Harold Duke (deceased) and Ronald Duke.
Even though her work and home lives kept her busy, Betty found time to pursue one of her favorite past-times: playing the organ, which she did very well.
In addtion to her children and her sister, Betty is survived by numerous grandchildren.
Her services will be held at The Little Chapel of The Roses at Glen Abbey on Friday September 27 at 1:00. Her interment at Glen Abbey Memorial Park will be immediately following the funeral service.
