Born on November 20, 1946, in Naga, Cebu, Philippines, to Daniel Olivares and Socorro Amador, Carmelita grew up knowing the value of sacrifice, hard work, and family. She credited her mother, Soccorro, for instilling these virtues, ones that would serve her for the rest of her life. Carmelita graduated with the class of 1963 from University of Santo Tomas - Education High School and continued with a degree in Family Medicine UST - College of Nursing, graduating among the class of 1968.

After traveling the country, she finally settled in San Diego, where she met and married the love of her life, Alfredo San Pedro Preclaro on April 27th, 1974. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Rosalinda and Alfredo Jr, and loved her family unconditionally.
During her nursing career, Carmelita served the San Diego community dutifully at various clinics around the city. Beloved by patients and coworkers alike, her hard work and dedication to her craft were only surpassed by the kindness and compassion for those she interacted with.
