Catherine Mae Cronk, affectionately known as Cathy, passed away peacefully in Chula Vista, California, on December 15, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 79 years old.
Born on August 24, 1945, in Greenwich Village, New York, to Robert Lincoln Jones, Jr. and Constancia Beltina DeHaseth Jones, Cathy lived a vibrant life marked by love, resilience, and dedication. Cathy’s childhood years were full of travel and adventure where she lived in a variety of places including South America, Miami, Texas, and finally San Diego in 1964.
Cathy was a San Diego State graduate and excelled in her career as a Certified Public Accountant, dedicating over 30 years to Sempra Energy. Outside of her professional achievements, she was an enthusiastic world traveler which took her to amazing countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe where she delighted in exploring new places and indulging in her love of theatre, live music and the arts.
Family was Cathy's greatest treasure. Marrying her true love, Jeffrey Cronk, in 1987, they fostered a life of fun, adventure, and devotion to their family.
Cathy is survived by her four children: Robert Bright, Eric Cronk, Heather Cronk, and Chris Cronk; six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Christina, Shine, Hunter, Max, and Andrew; and two great-grandchildren: Eileen and Easton Jeffrey. She is also survived by her five siblings: Robert, Carol, Marie, Jeanette, and Susie.
Cathy will be remembered for her boundless love and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, extreme generosity, strength, and the enduring importance of togetherness.
Rest in peace, Cathy. You will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who loved you.
