Cecilia Barnett, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at the age of 93.
Cecilia was born on February 14, 1933, in Phoenix, Arizona, along with her twin sister Audelia. She spent her childhood in Prescott, Arizona, surrounded by her parents and 6 siblings. In 1950, the family moved to National City, California, where Cecilia would make the South Bay her lifelong home. She graduated from Sweetwater High School with the Class of 1952.
Cecilia married Harry Barnett, and together they were blessed with four children: Eleanor, Richard, Steven, and Teresa. Sadly, Cecilia experienced the heartbreaking loss of three of her children. Eleanor passed away in 1963, Richard passed away in 1964, and her beloved son Steven passed away in 2018. Through every loss and every difficult chapter, Cecilia carried on with incredible strength, love, and devotion to her family.
Cecilia dedicated much of her working life to education with the Sweetwater Union High School District, where she was part of the community she loved.
Cecilia found great joy in creating beautiful things with her hands. She especially loved knitting, crocheting, and quilting, sharing her handmade creations and the warmth that went into them with family and friends. These special gifts were a reflection of the love and care she gave so freely.
Those who knew Cecilia will remember her for the love and kindness she gave so freely. She was a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to call her a friend, Mom, or Nana.
Her 93 years were filled with family, friendship, creativity,
love, and countless cherished memories.
Cecilia is survived by her daughter Teresa, her grandchildren Brandon, Sarah, David, Amber, Steven, and Vivianne, and her 15 great-grandchildren Alyssa, Kaleb, Olivia, Cecilia, Bryan, Bryson, Aubrey, Aurora, Tessa, Tyler, Charlie, David, Dior, Stella, Amelia, and her twin sister Audelia, and many other loving family members and friends who will carry her love and memory in their hearts.
Although our hearts are broken by her passing, there is comfort in knowing that Nana is now in Heaven, reunited with her beloved husband, Harry, and her children Eleanor, Richard, and Steven, who went before her. She has also been reunited with her beloved granddaughter, our sister Tiffany Miranda, who left us on June 16, 2026.
We can only imagine the beautiful reunion that awaited her.
A celebration of Cecilia's life will be held at Glen Abbey in Bonita, California, on September 1 and 2, 2026. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor her remarkable life, share memories, and celebrate the beautiful legacy of love she leaves behind.
Rest peacefully, Nana. Your life was a blessing. your memory a treasure, and your love will live on in the generations you left behind. You may have left this world, but you will never leave our hearts. Your love, kindness, and the memories you gave us will live on forever.
Until we meet again, Nana. We find comfort knowing that you are finally home with Papa Harry, Eleanor, Richard, Steven, and Tiffany. May you all be together again, watch over us down here.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
