Cirilo A. Sanchez was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships earning the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
He was the son of Flaviano Sanchez and Macaria Aguilar. Cirilo grew up in Pasay, Philippines. He had a brother, Gonzalo and two sisters, Mercedes and Jacinta.
A typical teenager, Cirilo had a fairly happy high school experience, attending Pasay City High school. Making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood, he would go on to attend National University.
He had a passion as a basketball player, competing at Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, Philippines during his younger years.
In July 22, 1945 he married Eulalia Vergel de Dios Cuneta in Pasay City, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Cirilo was committed to making his new family happy; a dedicated husband whose eyes only focused on one woman with whom he was married for 65 years.
Cirilo worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Cirilo was blessed with three children, one son, Cirilo Jr. and two daughters, Antonieta and Aurora.
Fortunately, Cirilo enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Cirilo worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was as a storekeeper supply supervisor. He was employed for Philippines Airlines for a good 35 years. Cirilo always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
His perfection defined the beauty and good qualities of all his craftmanship: chairs, tables, cabinets, garden swing, broken furniture, dismantled tools, etc.. He was always willing to come and fix things and make them work again. Amazingly, a handyman of all kinds. He was a charming grandfather and great-grandfather. Despite his ailing breathing condition he managed to carry them whenever he could to comfort them from crying and spoil them in his own little way.
Cirilo passed away on November 17, 2010 at Friendship Manor Hospice from complications with COPD. He is survived by his wife Eulalia Vergel de Dios Cuneta Sanchez; his children, Antonieta, Aurora and Cirilo "Boy" Jr.; his grandchildren, Colyns, Benjie Domantay, Abigail, Maita Sanchez, Christopher Anthony and Chelsea Ann; his great-grandchildren, Dray Makoa, Mariel Patrice, Jasmine Rosalie, Madelyn May, and Justin Ryan. Services were held at The Little Chapel of the Roses. Cirilo was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
Simply stated, Cirilo was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Cirilo leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Cirilo A. Sanchez.
