

Cleotilde Lobo Ibajo (affectionately known by friends as ‘Manang Flor’, ‘Aling Flor’ or ‘Cleo’ by her co-workers). The name ‘Flor’ was given to her by her sisters when they were young. She was 82 years old passed away last April 23rd 2016 in San Diego, California due to a Pancreatic Cancer.
Flor was born to Sulpicio Ibajo and Balbina Lobo on September 21, 1933 in Masbate, Philippines. She has two brothers, Francisco Ibajo, Florencio Ibajo. She has three sisters, Eugenia Corbe, Magdalena Canoy and the last surviving sister, Socorro Genoso living in Laguna, Philippines.
Cleotilde met Sy Ok Chua (aka Lorenzo Sy) a businessman in Carriedo Street in Quiapo, Manila. They have four children Arsenio, Barbara, Carlos and Richard. Lorenzo and Flor made Carriedo their permanent home in the mid 1950s and later moved out from Manila to Quezon City in the mid 1970s and purchased a house in San Bartolome, Novaliches.
Cleotilde was primarily a homemaker and provided a great support to her husband managing two restaurants one in Quiapo and the other in A. Mabini Street in Ermita.
Cleotilde migrated to the U.S. back in the 1980. She lived with her nieces Lea Kebert and Fely Johnson and worked in a manufacturing factory as an assembler in San Fernando Electric for over 10 years. Also worked as a Care Giver and later retired and moved from San Fernando Valley to San Diego.
Flor was active in all senior’s activities at in ‘Samahan’. She loves to participate on senior beauty pageants, ballroom dancing, bingo, exercises and etc. She enjoyed religious activities praying the rosary with her friends and along with her neighbors. Traveled and visited many countries in Europe with her best friend the late Aling Lily along with the Montenegro family. Enjoyed going to casino to play, camping with her friend Aling Estrella in their leisure time along with her sons and grandkids.
She has thirteen grandchildren Michael, Steven, Melvin, John, Paulo, Francis, Honeylyn, Leslie, Patrick, Lloyd, Carlo, Charles, Christopher. Ten Great grandchildren Nicole, Stephen, Franchesca, Francine, Lesliebeth, Zyril, Patricia, James, Nathan and Matthew.
Rather than mourn the death of Cleotilde Ibajo, we are going to celebrate life instead. She is finally home with our Lord God in heaven, in a much better place where eternal peace, joy, happiness and no more tears, pain and sadness.
