Tilly came to El Paso Texas in 1960 with the help of an aunt to learn English and continue her education. It was here that she met the love of her life, Fidel. They married in 1965, and had two sons. They stayed in El Paso, until 1977 when Fidel retired from the US Army.
The family relocated to San Diego that same year. It was here that Tilly started her first electronics assembler job. She continued working in the electronics field for thirty years. The projects that she worked on enhanced national pride and security.
Throughout her life, Tilly maintained a deep faith in God, and the Catholic Church. With the exception of extreme circumstances, she never missed mass on Sunday. In retirement, she wanted to share her faith, and decided to volunteer as a CCD instructor. Even though she was only able to volunteer for two years, it gave her immense joy, and fulfillment.
Family was the most important thing to Tilly. Whatever she did in life, the wellbeing of her family was at the forefront. Whether it was her husband, kids, Mom, siblings, grandkids, nephews, nieces, or anyone she considered family, she would do whatever she could to ensure that she was there for whatever they needed.
Tilly didn’t really have any hobbies per se. Her family and Church were her two priorities. Occasionally, she would work on her garden, participate in local exercise programs, and maybe go to a movie or concert with close friends. Her seven grandchildren is what brought her the most joy.
Tilly set the bar in everything she did in life. Through her example, she made us better people. Cancer took her body and mind, but not her spirit. And her spirit will continue to spread through everyone she touched...
