

Crispin Apostol Valbuena, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in San Diego, California. He was born on April 18, 1940, in Pampanga, Philippines, where he spent his early years before embarking on a life defined by service, dedication, and love for family.
He attended local schools, completing his high school education before continuing to a two-year college, where he furthered his studies and developed skills that would serve him throughout his life.
Crispin proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, dedicating years of commitment and hard work to his country. Through his service, he rose to the rank of Petty Officer First Class before retiring with honor. During his distinguished military career, he earned numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation with star, Navy Battle “E” Ribbon, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with star.
His commitment to excellence continued after his military service as an Engineer Maintenance Technician at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, where he worked for 17 years and received multiple certificates of commendation and letters of appreciation.
A devoted Catholic, Crispin lived a life grounded in faith and generosity. He was actively involved in Filipino community organizations and supported causes such as Disabled American Veterans (DAV), AMVETS, and various religious groups through his time and contributions.
Crispin found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved traveling, dancing, singing, cooking, and working on do-it-yourself projects. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family—caring for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and creating lasting memories with them. He was also known to enjoy social outings, including time spent at local casinos with friends.
He will be remembered as an honorable, kind, and devoted man who was deeply committed to his family. His legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication.
Crispin is survived by his children: Joseph Marlon; Arlyn and Derek; Divina and Larry; Emilia and Ernesto; Louie and Magie; Allan and Irene; and Shella and Chris. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Eric and Lynette; Kimberly and Ryan; Kevin; AJ; Kyle; Krishelle; and Veronica; and his great-grandchildren: Erilynn and Lyric. He is further survived by Dom, Eppie, Esther, Tess, and Bong.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teresita M. Valbuena, who passed away on July 5, 2010, after a lifetime of shared joys and challenges. And also his older brother Junior and younger sister Dorie.
Crispin Apostol Valbuena will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness and strength touched all who knew him. His life was a testament to service, faith, and family, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved.
