Danilo N. Fabian
March 30, 1953 – November 14, 2012
Danilo Navarro Fabian March 30, 1953 - November 14, 2012 Born in Balanga, Bataan and raised in a small town of Orani, Bataan, Philippines on March 30th 1953, Danilo Navarro Fabian (Danny) began his journey through life. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Evelina Fabian (Elvie) and their five children, Elaine, Kathleen, Daisy, Danilo, Jr. (Junior), and Hazelle. He was a very loving and devoted father and husband. He loved to always be around his six grandchildren because they put a big smile on his face. Growing up in the Philippines, Danny was an extremely bright and hardworking young man. He excelled at the game of chess. As a young boy, people from his town went to the local market where they lined up and paid to try to beat him in chess which was very rare that he was defeated. Although he kept his parents, Demetrio and Rosario Fabian busy as a mischief-maker, he still had the kindest and sweetest heart and no one including his baby sister, Ester whom he always picked on, can ever say anything negative about him. Danny looked up to his older siblings, Belen and Angelito who always made sure he was headed in a right direction. At age 25, Danny immigrated to the US to begin a new life where he met his wife, Elvie, while both working at the Kyocera Factory. Soon after they met, Danny and Elvie married and he joined the US Navy as a Corpsman. He was proud to be part of the US Navy and was honored to serve in war in the Middle East. Throughout his military career, Danny worked hard to move up in the ranks and finally retired as a Chief after serving 24 years. Danny was an intelligent man who never stopped learning. While working fulltime in the Navy, he completed his first Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from National University while raising three young daughters. Even after retiring from the Navy, Danny continued with his education where he completed his second Bachelor of Science degree in Registered Nursing from Asuza Pacific University. On Saturday November 10, 2012, before his passing, though very ill, he still managed to complete his RN exam board. His willpower set an excellent example to his five children. He always encouraged them to finish their college education. Danny was a proud father who always spoke about all his children’s accomplishments. Although Danny was busy with school and his career, he always made time for family, friends and his hobbies. One of his favorite hobbies was cars. No one ever knew what new car Danny would be driving next or what year mustang he was working now. Besides his 1965 mustang, his most prized vehicle was his RV which he used for his love of travel. Traveling with family cross country was time that he set aside for family bonding. He also loved to work outside in his garden of fresh fruits and vegetables which bloomed because of his green thumb. He strongly believed in never paying anyone to do any job that he can do himself. Throughout the years he can say that he has done it all, from being the family gardener, mechanic, landscaper, carpenter, electrician, and painter to name a few. Everything he did involved his children who today can say that they don’t regret working with their dad on all the random projects that he conquered. Danilo Navarro Fabian was a man who pushed himself and had all the willpower to complete whatever was on his mind. Even at his weakest, he was determined to complete everything in his bucket list. He fought hard to survive his cancer and outlived his life expectation. He will be remembered as a person who always put others before himself. Danny will forever have a special place in all of our hearts and will be dearly missed.
