Dannie Sue Ford was born at home in rural Hattieville, Arkansas on January 4, 1940. Her brother recalled two cardinals outside on the snow that day, beautiful bright red, that carry the happy sentiment of goodness and good luck. Dannie went to Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas during the important historical time of integration in our nation’s history. She came to Merced, California in 1954 with her mother to begin the next part of her journey. She met her husband, James Campbell, in Merced, and they were married in Point Loma in 1960. Their daughters Jaime Alison and Cynthia Lynn came along and completed the family. Dannie’s life was dedicated to her family, supporting school functions as a room mother, member of the PTA, Bluebirds, Campfire Girls, Job’s Daughters, piano recitals, and being “mom” to so many of the “kids” in her life. She worked for and retired from Grossmont Hospital, La Mesa in 2002 after 25 years of service in Material Management. She enjoyed her life living with Cyndi in Lakeside, California. She loved gardening, watching sunsets, anything to do with animals and visiting with neighbors, family, and friends. She loved old church hymns; her favorites including The Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art. Dannie is survived by her daughter Cyndi Campbell, her daughter Jaime Lorenz, her son-in-law Steve Lorenz, and her granddaughter Stephanie Lorenz. We will miss you dearly, Mom and Grandma.
