Born on October 31, 1979, in Rosario, Salinas, Cavite, Philippines, Jo spent most of her life in San Diego, where she built a life as colorful, particular, and full of character as she was.
Jo had an extraordinary eye. She loved architecture, art, design, music, and the small details other people might walk right past. She had an instinct for beauty and style, and an appreciation for the care that went into making something beautiful, interesting, or distinctly one’s own. That same attentiveness extended to people. Jo was deeply thoughtful, fiercely protective, and unwaveringly devoted to the people she called hers. And then there was her laugh: infectious, unmistakable, and difficult not to join once it got going.
Of all the things Jo created and cared for in her lifetime, nothing mattered to her more than the life she built with her longtime partner, Joel, and their sons, Dade and Grayson. Jo devoted herself fully to raising her boys, giving them the kind of deliberate, everyday love that leaves no room for doubt. She was present. She paid attention. She made their lives her life’s work, not as a sacrifice of who she was, but as one of its fullest expressions. Dade and Grayson will never have to wonder how deeply their mother loved them. She made sure they knew.
Jo is survived by her partner, Joel; her sons, Dade and Grayson; her parents, Nida and Secinio; her sister, Kristine, and brother-in-law, Justin; her brother, Artemus, and sister-in-law, Brittany; her nephew and niece, Harrison and Phoebe; her beloved dog, Bubba; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones whose lives are permanently marked by having known and loved her.
Those who love her will miss the sound of her laugh, her eye for the smallest detail, the particular way she cared for her people, and the countless ordinary things that became part of the landscape of life simply because Jo was there.
Her absence is enormous because her presence was, too.
Visitation will be held at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902, US, on September 21, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
