Today we say goodbye to my mother, Doris, after several years of steady decline while on hospice. It was just 10 days before her 97th birthday. She was a very special lady - raising my brother and I after the death of our dad when I was only two years old. She touched not only our lives, but also the lives of so many others. I miss her already. Although knowing she is finally at peace, without pain, and in heaven with my dad as well as many of her other family members and friends gives me solace at this moment.
I will always remember her love of the “Andy Griffith Show;” the Padres, fresh strawberries, desserts, bacon, buttermilk (for some unknown reason….LOL!), and her beautiful collection of Santa Clauses. She loved the Christmas season! Most of all, I will remember her LOVE for family! She was always there for me and for all of us.
I love her dearly and there will always be that special place in my heart for all the memories she gave me.
