Edna Jane Dorsey

Edna Jane Dorsey, 87, passed away on June 20, 2016 in Bonita, California. She was born January 17, 1929 to Ralph O. Lantz and Matilda Lantz in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Mount Calvary Lutheran School and John Marshall High School in Cleveland, Ohio.

Known for her tenacity and independence, Edna was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved dogs, watching baseball and creating personalized greeting cards with her daughter and friends. She was a life-long Lutheran Christian and attended church on a regular basis.

She married Raymond Joseph Dorsey in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1986. Edna is survived by her sister Helen Oswald of Starkville, Mississippi, a brother Ralph (Bud) Lantz of Cleveland, Ohio, daughter Maureen Dorsey and daughter-in-law Sparky Carranza of Oakland, California, daughter Catherine Garcia and son-in-law Joseph Garcia of Bonita, California, and sons Michael Dorsey of Carlsbad, CA and Shawn Dorsey of San Diego, CA, granddaughters Nichole Jennings and Michele Richter, grandsons Brian, Brandon and Bradley Dorsey and great granddaughters Reese Jennings and Madison Richter.

Services will be held Saturday, July 9th at 10 am at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Chula Vista. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association San Diego/Imperial at www.ALZ.org
