Life will begin in earnest and this play
of making ready will have sudden end.
And these dull tasks to which we daily bend
our wit and strength will change or pass away.
Life is a flowing stream that will not stay
For futile dreams; Be not of those who say
That when tomorrow dawns their lives will mend.
Wait not to live.
Be bold! Make now of life the thing you pray
That it should be; Make every moment pay
Full measure now of what God wills to send.
Take joy and sorrow both, and make them blend
In present richness; Trust Him, and obey—
Wait not to live!
