I have known Manay when I worked with her younger sister Bebot at US Naval Hospital, Subic Bay in 1975. We shared an apartment for nine years and known her to be welcoming, down to earth, caring, very humble, friendly, very kind, and most of all workaholic.

Last time I talked to Bebot, I told her that when we go to San Diego for a visit, the first thing I will do is to call her. But it seems it's not happening anymore. 

Be assured that I will treasure all our fond memories and friendship. You will always be in our prayers and in our hearts. 

You will always be remembered, Manay.

I am heartbroken for the loss of my dear Auntie Manay / Elsa Nuyles-Sjoberg. Eldest of seven siblings, my mom’s sister, and has been a second mother to me. I will always remember your care, wisdom, advices and guidance, and the constant reminder to always be humble and be thankful. The last time I saw you physically was when I visited in San Diego in October 2017, and I was planning to visit you again next year. Just three months after the passing of Uncle Boy and Auntie Edna, you have now followed them in heaven. You are now together with your beloved husband Uncle Roger, mommy, lolo and lola. Rest in peace auntie! You are loved and will be remembered by many! Love you! 🙏🏼🖤🕊

My lasting memories of Momsky Manay:
She's very thoughtful & generous, showing consideration for the needs of every member of the family.
She's tender hearted, having a kind, gentle & sentimental nature.
She's a motherly figure to us, very caring & protective.
And lastly, she's a lovable person. =)

But unfortunately, the unexpected passing of Momsky Manay this year would be one of the saddest moment in my life.  Not only that I lost a caring auntie but mostly I lost another great mother. All those good memories that you gave me, will now just become a memory. =(

Momsky, someday we will meet again in the presence of our Lord God. I love you so much and wish you were here with us and now I miss you already. I feel privileged to have been your son. You always loved me unconditionally. Sending all my love, hugs & kisses to heaven. 0=)

There’s nothing more we could add to make your Eulogy more prominent of Elsa’s life when she was with all of us who are mourning on her death! She will be missed by everyone, but not forgotten!

My dearest Auntie Manay, as we call her , is very sweet, caring, supportive and generous to her family especially to her nephew and nieces. After what happened few months ago, she’s always reminding us to be strong and have faith in God. Auntie Manay also constantly reminds us to watch our health especially the food we eat and proper check-ups. Our family was holding on to each other and little by little we are starting to move on from the pain we felt. But then again we felt the same heartache now that she’s gone. I believed that her last mission was to take care of her siblings and the family for the last time before God sent her to His home. I want to tell her that she did it very well and we are proud of her. 

To Auntie Manay, it’s been 9 days since you left us but we know you are in a better place where there is no pain, no sufferings and you’re at peace together with Lolo Olegario,  Lola Soledad, Mommy Elena, Uncle Roger, Uncle Boy and Auntie Edna (please hug them for me). Guide us for the healing of the family. We miss you and we love you very much.

I met Elsa in September 2014 at Orange Tree Mobile Home Park. I just moved in the park at that time and after a week or so, Elsa and husband, Roger moved in. I was in the south side of the park and Elsa was in the north side. Elsa is a typical Virgo: loyal, analytical, kind, hardworking and smart. She is very dedicated to her loved ones and a nurturing wife to her husband, Roger. As a friend, Elsa is not only a good advisor but also a caring and generous giver. I remember, one time when we went to a casino and she won in a slot machine (don't know how much) and she was giving me a $100  as balato which I refused. I told her to keep the money because she might lose it again (ha, ha). Elsa loves to share anything with her friends (fruits, vegetables from her backyard), food that she bought or whatever Roger cooks for her.    I'm gonna miss you, Elsa. I know that your leaving causes us pain and sorrow but I know that you may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts. Goodbye, my friend.

Unassuming, quietly confident and kind-hearted, Elsa, you will be remembered forever. ❤⚘

Manay (Elsa Nuyles-Sjoberg) was introduced to me by her sister Norma when she came over to the Bay Area in May 2019. I recognized she has a good talent for writing essays and a great painter.  We became good friends, considered her my big sister, and she eventually became my tax client.

I remember the day when we visited Stanford University campus.  Since I was the designated driver, she commented on my driving style.  She said, “Virgie, you drive safely and smoothly”.  I was grateful for her kind words. She made me feel comfortable, more relax, and enjoyed her company even more.

Manay (Elsa) will be missed greatly not only by her immediate family but also  by everyone whom she interacted with over the years.  She was welcoming, hospitable, caring, kind-hearted, friendly, humble, and one of the honest clients I have known.  I loss a good friend, a trustworthy client,  but she will never be forgotten.  My condolences and prayers to the Nuyles family that she loved and cared so much.

I know Tita Elsa or most commonly known by Family as Manay Elsa as someone generous, my mom would tell me stories about how Tita Elsa is kind and generous even at their young age.

One of my most recent memory of Tita is when we went to Barona, she was excited, and you can see the joy in her eyes, she is happy and is worry free.  This is the same excitement I see whenever she tells me her young adventures, her exhilarating career, the fulfillment that gives her drive. This is the Tita Elsa, I want to remember, The Tita Elsa I choose to remember, her warmth, her love, kindness, generosity and selflessness.

I miss her, and it saddens me that I am no longer able to give her a hug or brush the hair or kiss her forehead but, I know Tita does not want me to be sad instead she would want me to remember her with happy memories.

We are so blessed to have met and spent time with you. I love you my Tita Elsa. 

I lost my rock, my confidant, my ‘go to ’ person, my idol, my mentor, my best friend, and most of all, my sister…

Elsa (Manay) embodied the best a human being could be - loving, caring, kind-hearted, soft-spoken, simple, patient, open minded, talented (her essays, writeups, letters and narratives, for me are rhe best!..and she also paints.), highly respected among her peers, loyal, workaholic, intelligent, funny, and most of all tolerant of other’s shortcomings. She is selfless, forgiving and generous (will give until she has no more to give or share). 

We talk on the phone everyday - chatting anything and everything under the sun, but not forgetting about the family.  And now your leaving makes a huge empty space in my life, our family’s life. I am lucky to have you as my sister and the positive impact and influence you made in the trajectory of my existence. The family is beyond grief right now, but we are so proud, grateful and truly blessed to have you in our lives.  

We love you so very much Manay.  You will forever be in our thoughts and in our hearts.❤️
