

Epifanio, was known to many as “Pifas” or “Epi”. He was born January 22, 1933 in Brawley, California where he shared his home with his father Calletano and his mother Rafaela and his siblings Valentin, Saturina (Sato), Frank, Estanislao (Tani), Delfina (Fina), and Manuel.
As a young man while working as a mechanic at a date factory in Indio, California he met Elisa Navarro, during their engagement, on February 10, 1953 he joined the Army. A year later on March 2, 1954 in Yuma, Arizona Epifanio and Elisa were married.
He served 3 years active duty and five years Army reserve; during his active duty he received a “National Defense Service Metal”. After the Army he was employed by Norton Air Force Base in Riverside California as an Aircraft & Missile Mechanic, while employed at Norton he received a total of seven awards and honors. He was transferred to Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California, employed as an Aircraft & Missile Mechanic where he received five awards and honors. He retired March 4, 1988.
He was a strong, courageous and a straightforward man, respected and admired by many. He was full of wisdom and knowledge, someone we all went to for advise and counsel. He was a loving husband, very dedicated and devoted to his wife Elisa of 56 years. An exceptional provider, an amazing father to his children Catherine, Charles, Elaine & Elizabeth. He was a loving grandfather to Angelina, Elisa, Marcella, Analisa, Michael & Kaylee. He was a great friend and loyal companion. Those who became friends became family to him. He was a father figure to many. He was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He was a master mechanic, handyman and financial advisor. His passion in life was deep-sea fishing, his dogs and hunting for dove and deer. He introduced and taught the skills of his passion to those who seeked to learn. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking his family to the mountains, beaches, camping and hiking. . He will always be loved and missed and will never be forgotten. .
In 2005 he was diagnosed with Dementia. Throughout the years of his illness he was loved and cared for by his wife and children.
He remained at home with his family until December 18, 2010 where he was admitted to a nursing facility, he passed on December 19, 2010 with his loving family at his side.
He will live forever in our memories and cherished in our hearts with the greatest love and admiration.
The services will commence at Glenn Abby Memorial Park and Mortuary on December 26, 2010. Viewing from 11:00 – 2:00, Service from 2:00 – 3:00, to be presented by Robert Rodriguez Jr. and Gene Klettenberg.
Epifanio’s wishes are to be cremated and his remains to placed at Fort Rosecrans in Point Loma. On January 26, 2011 there will be a military service at Fort Rosecrans at 1:00 p.m.
