Evelyn M. Boyer of San Diego, California, went to be with her Lord on August 12, 2010. Evelyn graduated from Rodman High School in Iowa. In 1942 she married Ernie Boyer and they had seven children. Evelyn and Ernie moved from Iowa to San Diego in 1966. Evelyn enjoyed embroidering pillowcases, dresser scarves and aprons, many of which became gifts for her family and friends. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles - which she did even during her last months with help from her family and caregivers at Family Style Care in San Diego. Another hobby was making beaded necklaces. Evelyn and Ernie both enjoyed going to gun shows, where they sold jewelry and coins and many miscellaneous items. Over the years they became friends with other sellers and enjoyed their times of traveling to the shows in their motor home. Evelyn was an excellent sewer. She made most of her children's clothes during their childhood. She was especially fond of and proudly wore her Iowa T-shirts and sweatshirts, and was quick to let others know that was where she lived before she moved to California. Evelyn is survived by six of her children, Bonnie, Betty, Wayne, Karen, John and Marcia; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Dorothy, and step-sister, Virginia. She is preceded in death by Ernie, her husband of 60 years; son, Eugene, who died in a farming accident at a young age; six brothers and sisters; two step-brothers and son-in-law John Leners.
