

Fernando Salmon Guerrero Sr. was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Fernando will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Fernando was born on August 26, 1927 at Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He was the son of Leon Guerrero and Petra Salmon Guerrero. Fernando grew up in Manila, Philippines and was raised with six siblings. He had four sisters, Gloria Asuncion, Atty Elizabeth Guerrero, Lydia David, Nancy Abella and two brothers Atty Leon Guerrero Jr. and Angelito Guerrero. Fernando was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings and they shared many life experiences over the years.
A typical teenager, Fernando had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Arellano High School in Manila, Philippines. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. Fernando enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Fernando was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from St. Williams College in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, in 1953.
On July 15, 1956, Fernando exchanged wedding vows with Belen R. Bautista at Santa Ana Catholic Church, of Manila, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Fernando was committed to making his new family happy. Fernando worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Fernando was blessed with four children, two daughters, Maria Leah and Maria Regina, and two sons, Fernando Jr. and Fernando III. Another blessing for Fernando was the gift of nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Fortunately, Fernando enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Fernando worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was a Policeman for the Manila Police Department. He was employed for more than 30 years. He also worked as a High School Teacher for a few years. Fernando always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done. Fernando was a reservist in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. During his service in the Army, he achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant. Fernando enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were reading and gardening. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Fernando passed away on April 27, 2013. He is survived by his children Leah, Tito, Oggie and Regine, grandchildren Brian, Erick, Anthony and Raymond, Ferdinand, Charmaine, Frederick, Precious and Princess that are currently in the Philippines and his great-grandchildren Yciar, Alexander and Athena. Fernando also leaves sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers and sisters, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, and grandchildren in the Philippines, to cherish his memory. Services were held at Saint Mary Catholic Church in National City, California on May 7, 2013 at 9:00 AM. Fernando was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park, Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Fernando was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Fernando leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Fernando Salmon Guerrero Sr.
