With broken hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Fernando Romero Jr., age 53, of Chula Vista, California, who departed this life on the morning of June 18, 2026, following a yearlong battle with cardiovascular disease. While his absence leaves an immeasurable void, we take comfort in knowing he is now free from suffering and at peace.
Fernando was born in Los Angeles on January 17, 1973, to Fernando and Oralia Romero. At a young age, he moved with his family to San Diego, where he was raised and later graduated from Chula Vista High School. He attended Southwestern College before building a successful and fulfilling 23-year career with Imperial Sprinkler Supply, now Heritage Landscape Supply, where he worked as a dedicated appraiser.
Fernando met the love of his life, Minerva Mercado de Romero, at Señor Frog’s through a mutual friend. After four years of courtship, they were married on September 28, 2002, and together built a life grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. They were blessed with two sons, whom they welcomed with deep love and devotion.
Fernando will be remembered for his calm presence, quiet strength, and genuine warmth. As the first-born child, grandchild, and nephew, he was lovingly known as “Tito,” a reflection of his spirited personality in his younger years, later growing into a man who valued humility and a more private life.
Above all, Fernando was a devoted father. He took great pride in his sons and found immense joy in supporting them—especially as their biggest fan on the soccer field. He was also a big Padres fan and spent his days cheering for them during baseball season. He cherished time with his family and found meaning in life’s everyday moments.
Fernando embraced life with curiosity and joy, appreciating both adventure and simplicity. He loved traveling, experiencing different cultures, and enjoying good food with family and friends. He also had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed attending live music events.
He lived a life centered on love, loyalty, and connection. He valued the simple but meaningful moments—time spent with family, shared laughter, and lasting memories. He was a protector and provider who always put his loved ones first.
Fernando was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, and loyal friend. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Minerva; his two sons, Saúl (21) and Emmanuel (20); his mother, Oralia; and his sister, Melinda. He was preceded in death by his father, Fernando, and his brother, Omar.
Guests are invited to wear blue, Fernando’s favorite color, as a tribute to the joy he brought to everyone around him.
May his memory live on in our hearts and continue to inspire us to love deeply, laugh often, and cherish every moment.
