Florencia (Rose) DeVera Bongato, of San Diego, California passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in the comfort of one of her daughter’s homes. Born in Apaya, Mapandan, Pangasinan Philippines, February 18, 1917, she lived a humble life; she loved and served her family at all costs. She was married to Angel Bongato (deceased) for 69 years, had 9 children, 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
While Rose still lived in the Philippines and her husband went away for business, she raised money through a piggery and a “buy-and-sell” shop. After she lived in the Philippines, Florencia migrated to America with her family in 1979 and lived with her children. She was able to watch over all her grandchildren.
On her spare time, one could see her playing cards with relatives and friends. She was a devout Catholic and showed God’s grace to all people around her. Even though her native language was Pangasinan, her loving and caring gestures transcended through any language barrier. Rose’s love echoes through all her loved ones, who took care of the woman that nurtured them.
