

Francisca Asuelo Quinsay Padua departed this life at the home of her daughter in Bonita, CA on May 3, 2013 after battling cancer. She was 86. The oldest child of the late Sabino Manangan Quinsay and Eleuteria Asuelo Quinsay, she was born on October 10, 1926 in San Antonio, Zambales, Philippines. Brothers Maximino, Lauro, Hipolito, and Eduardo and Sisters Inez and Lolita followed her. She was married to the late Silverio Ladrillono Padua, a retired U.S. Navy service member, in May 1953. She attended grade school at Yangco Elementary School in San Antonio, Zambales and high school at Zambales High School in Iba, Zambales and Zambales Academy in San Narciso, Zambales. She received a full college academic scholarship to attend the prestigious University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital in Manila graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She has worked in Olongapo U.S. Naval Reservation Hospital at Subic Bay U.S. Naval Base, Philippines. She has served as a two-term councilor with a short stint as the Vice-Mayor and later on as a public health nurse for her hometown, San Antonio, Zambales.
An avid reader and traveler, she has traveled all over the United States visiting children and relatives and annual balikbayan trips back to her native hometown to visit her orchids which she has lovingly taken care of. Among the many blessings in her life, Francisca's great pride and joy were her five children, nine grandchildren and her three great-grandchildren, many of whom were with her when she passed away. She is survived by her children Samuel Padua (wife Yoly) of National City, CA, Silverio Padua, Jr. (Wife Maggie) of Silver Spring, MD, David Padua (wife Malou) of Harker Heights, TX, Josefa Padua Carolino (husband Alex) of Bonita, CA, and Trinidad Padua of Maricopa, AZ; her two sisters Inez Arnold of North Dakota, and Lolita Encina of San Antonio, Zambales; grandchildren Enrique Padua, Sr. (wife Lailani), Mark Padua (wife Minerva), Samuel Padua Jr., Justin Padua, Leilani Padua, Madeline Padua, Kristine Padua, Alex Carolino, Jr. and Cheryl Anne Carolino; and great grandchildren Janice Padua, Jessalyn Padua and Enrique Padua Jr.
Viewing will be on Friday, May 10, 2013 (5:00-9:00 p.m.) and Saturday, May 11, 2013 (5:00-9:00 p.m.) at Glen Abbey Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. A celebration of her life will be on Mon., May 13, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, 242 E. 8th Street, National City, CA 91950 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
