Franklin Bada Osana was born on July 15, 1947, in Olongapo City, Philippines, to Simeon Pascua Osana of Asingan, Pangasinan, and Teodora Bada Osana of Cabangan, Zambales. After his father’s passing in 1952 and the birth of his sister, Leonor Osana Capiral, the family moved to Sta. Rita, Olongapo City, where Franklin’s strength and resilience began to take root.
Raised by a devoted single mother, he learned perseverance early. He often spoke of carrying blocks of ice for miles and wearing oversized shoes—experiences that shaped the hardworking man he became.
Franklin graduated from Columban College and later studied at the Philippine Maritime Institute. He worked as a Merchant Marine and later earned an apprenticeship at the Subic Naval Base Ship
Repair Facility. Inspired by relatives who moved to the US, he joined the United States Navy in 1969 and trained in San Diego, beginning a proud chapter of military service.
Outside of work, Franklin found joy in simple moments—especially fishing, his true sanctuary. He was gifted with his hands and could fix or build anything, always taking pride in whatever he
created.
In his later years, he found fellowship and purpose in his Mason chapter, where he formed many meaningful friendships.
Franklin is survived by his spouse, Carolyne Dela Cruz Osana, nine children, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a loving extended family who remember him with deep gratitude and love.
His life was defined by perseverance, humble strength, and joy in life’s simple blessings. His legacy lives on in every life he touched.
