April 24, 1945 – March 12, 2025
With profound sadness yet immense gratitude for his remarkable life, we announce the passing of Gaudioso Macapagal Legaspi, Jr., lovingly known as "Jhun," at the age of 79 in San Diego, California.
Born on April 24, 1945, in Cavite City, Philippines, to Gaudioso and Virginia Legaspi, Jhun was a man of extraordinary intellect, integrity, and warmth. A gifted scholar, he graduated at the top of his class two years early before embarking on a distinguished 26-year career in the United States Navy. Dad received multiple medals and ribbons, including but not limited to: National Defense, Vietnam Service, Vietnam Campaign, Navy Achievement, Sea Service, Overseas, and Good Conduct. His service was marked by unwavering dedication, resilience, and a deep commitment to his country. Following his military retirement, he continued his legacy in Government Civil Service, ultimately transferring from Yokosuka, Japan, to San Diego, California, to be closer to his beloved children.
Jhun was more than his achievements—he was the heart of his family. A devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished papa, a dear brother, and a true friend, he lived his life with compassion, humor, and an open heart. His quick wit could brighten any room, his generosity knew no bounds, and his presence was a constant source of joy and comfort. He embraced life fully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.
Jhun shared nearly 53 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Perfidia “Faye.” His memory will forever be treasured by his children – Mikey (Trixie), Kristine (Ian), and Jay (Roxane), his grandchildren – Tristen, Luke, Troy, and Mischa, and his siblings – Ruby, Mercy, Irene, Maria, and Jennifer. He now reunites with his siblings Letty and Efren, who preceded him in passing.
Jhun was our guiding light—our steady rock, our source of wisdom, and our greatest source of love. He lived selflessly, loved unconditionally, and left an indelible mark on every life he touched. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find solace in the love he gave so freely, knowing it will live on in us forever.
We find comfort in God’s promise in Revelation 21:4: "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain."
Jhun has fought the good fight and kept the faith, as 2 Timothy 4:7-8 reminds us: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
Rest peacefully, Papa. Your love and light will remain with us always.
