Gladys Mae Guffey passed away at peace May 16, 2020 in her 91st year. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to all whose lives she touched. She was born February 8, 1929 in Gonzales, Texas to Charles and Wilma Skelton. She spent most of her youth in Tucson, Arizona where she met and married her husband, Roy Guffey. They had three children: Sandra, Vivian and Michael. Gladys lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker and as a volunteer for many years at Sharp Hospital Chula Vista and for Meals on Wheels. She loved to garden, cook for her family and tend to her turtles and backyard birds. She was skilled with a sewing machine, knitting needles and crochet hooks. She was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan and passed on the love of sports to her family. She enjoyed weekly outings with friends. She is survived by her children Sandra Hale, Vivian (David) Smyle, Michael (Sarah) Guffey; grandchildren Debra Hale, Lauren Smyle, Erin Guffey, Eric Guffey; great-grandchildren Olivia Pressley, Ellie Guffey; her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Memorial contributions to Sharp HospiceCare or Meals on Wheels are welcome.
