Glenn Anderson was born on December 8, 1967 in Chula Vista, California. He lived there with his mother and father, Anne & Gary and sister Debbie before moving to New York where his sister Kim was born. He returned to California a few years later.
He spent most of his childhood torturing his sisters…BB guns, snakes and numerous cow bites come to mind. He loved the family camping trips that included fishing, hiking and off-roading. He attended and graduated Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach in 1986. During this time he made some life long friends that would become “The Brandywine Posse.”
He was an adventure-seeker early in his life, always the dreamer. He believed if you followed your dreams anything is possible. When he was 23 he decided to sell everything he owned and move to Jamaica. He had a brief but exciting adventure and then had to move on and wound up in Florida with his grandparents Richard and Ruth.
The next chapter began in 1990 when he met Marilyn, the love of his life. They were married in 1992 in San Diego. They spent the first couple of years moving all over San Diego County and eventually settled in Chula Vista for a few years. They then decided to explore opportunities outside of San Diego moving to Orange County and two years later job opportunities took them to Houston, Texas.
Glenn has three nieces, Jennifer, Isabelle and Clara, and three nephews, Jeff, Tony and Aydin. He was very involved in their lives and loved them with all his heart. He got great joy out of spoiling them individually in ways that developed special bonds. However, he got great joy out of torturing them too. Locking them in closets, paying them to eat bugs, and convincing them cow pies were donuts, just to name a few.
The summer of 2004 Glenn made a surprise visit to San Diego. During this visit Glenn decided he and Marilyn needed to start a family of their own. Upon returning from his visit they began the process of adopting a child. In March 2005 they found their daughter Marrissa. This day was one of the most special days of their lives…they were able to complete their family. From this moment on Glenn was a different man. He was head over heels in love with his wife and newly adopted daughter. Glenn showed his daughter how to live each day to the fullest. After the adoption was final Glenn and Marilyn decided they needed to raise Marrissa in San Diego so she could develop her own relationships with her aunts, uncles and cousins. They relocated to San Diego.
Over the years Glenn and Marilyn had developed a love for the desert, dirt bikes and rangers…which they quickly passed on to Marrissa. It was apparent that Marrissa was meant to be Glenn and Marilyn’s daughter as she was a natural…a true ‘desert rat’.
Glenn cherished his relationships with his family and his friends. He enjoyed being with the people he loved and the people he felt loved by. He was always planning vacations, nights out, parties, and holidays… so that EVERYONE could be together. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for Glenn to text the gang on a Friday afternoon – “get together at our house tonight!” He had a magnetism that drew people to him—whether family, old friends or people he just met.
Glenn was a person of many talents and adjusted his career goals throughout his adult life. He was a DJ and an accomplished chef. He then found his passion in Information Technology and earned his Bachelors Degree in Science and Business Information Systems in October of 2010. He was very humble regarding this accomplishment – but his family was very, very proud of him.
If ever anyone was in need, Glenn was always there at the drop of a hat.
It was never a matter of if he could help someone but of how soon he could be there. Whether a family member, a friend, or just someone in need, Glenn was always there.
Glenn had no regrets, did what he did the way he wanted to do it, took everyone along for the ride and everyone always had a BLAST!!
