It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria (Gloriani) Ferrer, who was born on April 29, 1933, in Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines. She peacefully departed on May 8, 2024. Gloria was the daughter of Jose and Maria.
At the age of 25, Gloria married the love of her life, Alberto (Bert), in Rosario, Cavite. Their enduring bond was a testament to love and commitment until his passing on May 12, 2021. They were married for 62 beautiful and loving years.
Gloria's early years were spent in Cavite, Philippines where she attended Alfonso Elementary School and furthered her education at the Philippine Women’s University.
During this tumultuous period of World War II, when the Japanese occupied the Philippines, Gloria's family sought refuge in Alfonso, Cavite in the Philippines. It was at this time that she learned to speak Japanese from some of the Japanese soldiers. One memory shared with our family was during this time, at a Japanese checkpoint while they were walking to school, she and her best friend, Marina were often stopped by friendly Japanese soldiers to do a short performance, one will sing, and one will dance, and afterwards, they were able to go pass the check points, leaving the Japanese happily entertained.
Music and dance held a special place in Gloria's heart throughout her life. Known for her graceful moves, she often participated in dance contests, with a particular flair for the tango, which she excelled in. One of her proudest moments was dancing with Lawrence Welk while his band performed. She spoke of this moment often and posted pictures of this moment in her room.
Gloria's immediate and extended family cherished her deeply for the love, hospitality, generosity, and authenticity she shared with everyone she encountered. Her memory will forever be etched in their hearts through the countless cherished moments they created together.
Gloria is survived by her three sons, Eddie (spouse Deserie), Eric (spouse Bernadette), and Albert (spouse David), as well as her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren (Brandon, Brittney, Brielle, David, Jesse, Crystal, Michael, Phoebe, Noa, Elex, and Sienna) who brought immense joy to her life.
As we bid farewell to Gloria, we honor the legacy of love and kindness she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light she shared so generously with others.
