Grace's life has blessed many of us.  She was such a joyful and friendly person.  She was always eager to help friends and family.  She was open and honest.  She is now in God's loving hand and may God continue to watch over her family.

Grace will forever be remembered with affection and fondness by our family for her enthusiasm and tireless service to the Lord at the First Chinese Southern Baptist Church of San Diego.  We continue to pray for the Wongs for comfort from the Lord and we have the assurance that our sister in the Lord is in the arms of Jesus our Savior and we all will have that blessed time of reunion one day.  ----The Soo Hoo Family, William, Winnie, Wesley, and Ethan.

Grace Wong was born on June 14, 1960 in Hong Kong, the oldest of three children to David and Maria Wong. She spent her youth loving music and loving family visits to Taiwan.

In 1977, at the age of 17, she and the rest of her family moved to California when her father transferred to Los Angeles. They moved down to Chula Vista a year later and she graduated Bonita Vista High School the following year. She was involved in her high school musical theatre and a family trip to Vancouver in 1982 sparked a fondness for roadtrip vacations which inspired her to plan future roadtrip vacations for her family. She attended Southwestern College and attained an Associates Degree.

She met Kit Sonny Wong at a college fellowship at the College Avenue Baptist Church. They fell in love and grew closer to God. On November 17, 1984 they married. In the following years she would have three children, Kevin, Jonathan, and Matthew. Kevin sadly died two months after he was born due to SIDS, but her two other sons grew in her love.

Sonny and she would move from Paradise Hills to Rancho Penasquitos in 1987, just before Jonathan was born. A couple of years later, while taking care of her own sons, she decided to start her own business as a daycare provider. Her love of taking care of children even extended to church, where she would help the nursery at the First Chinese Southern Baptist Church of San Diego.

Her faith continued to grow as she served in the church. She became part of the church choir, singing and playing piano. She also used her love of cooking by making lunch meals for the church. In addition, she helped lead her church fellowship group and welcomed church newcomers by being a helpful friend. Grace is very energetic & lovable; and she had many good friends.

In 1999 she gave birth to her daughter, Hannah, and lovingly raised her while also taking care of the children in her daycare. She taught Hannah how to play the piano as well as instilled a love of music. She also encouraged Hannah to play softball and be in the Girl Scouts.

As Jonathan and Matthew went to college she decided to end her daycare service and go back to retail. Her passion for helping people came through as she became praised and promoted at her work in Sears and Sports Authority. 

In October of 2011 she suffered a debilitating stroke. She was able to recover somewhat and spent her last year in life close to loved ones and watching some of her favorite Cantonese tv series. In late August of 2012 she suffered a major cardiac arrest. Never fully regaining consciousness she passed away on October 14, 2012 surrounded by much of her family.

She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, caring mother, beautiful sister, compassionate daughter, and a wonderful friend.

May God continues to watch over the Wong family and provide them with blessings.  The memories of the wonderful times we had with Grace and her family will always be in our hearts.

Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family. We will surely miss Grace's smile, laughter, and her joyful attitude.
