

Ida Fikstad our loving Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma passed away quietly on February 14, 2010, Valentine's Day. She went quickly and peacefully. Ida was 95 years young and lived a full life. Ida was born in the little town of Sherry, Idaho on September 4, 1914. She was raised on the family farm in Pocatello, Idaho and attended the local high school. In 1933 she married her high school sweetheart, Clyde Ricks Fikstad. In early 1934, they moved to Laguna Beach, California with their first child, Betty Louise. In 1940 their second daughter Dee Ann was born. In her younger years, she taught youth classes and Sunday school at the Church of the Latter day Saints. She valued her spiritual upbringing and gave back to the local community. In 1959 they moved to Chula Vista, California. Ida went to work for Singer Sewing Company. She was a devoted employee and retired after 25 years with the company.
In her retirement, Ida enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and enjoying her family with Clyde. They resided in Quartzite, Arizona for half of the year, enjoying long walks, finding and carving iron wood. Enjoying new friends and playing pinnacle. She was proud to be a good wife and mother. That was important to her. She enjoyed watching the Padres and Chargers games. She always knew the scores. Recently, she started playing Bingo and Poker. She was a true winner.
Preceding her in death was her daughter Dee Ann, her husband Clyde, and her first eight siblings.
Ida's memory is celebrated by her surviving daughter, Betty Mayall, seven grandchildren (and their spouses) Bill and Martha, Ron and Candy, John and Erin, Debbie and Russell, Liz and Jeff, Sherri and Mike, and Nancy and Vince, along with thirteen great grandchildren, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Ronnie, Cody, Ryan, Angie, mark, Jared, Clarissa, Justin, Jordon, Megan and Sean, long term friends and little Emily.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at The Little Chapel of the Roses, Glen Abbey Memorial Park located at 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Ida's name to your favorite charity.
