Imelda Miciano was born on January 9, 1959. Born and raised in Santa Maria, Pangasinan, Philippines.
The fourth daughter of seven children of Daniel and Juliana Ordonez. She had five sisters and one brother. Married to Dioscoro Miciano on May 1981. Widowed May 2004. A mother to two children: Jomel (son) and Janice (daughter) A grandmother to three: Jerico, Layla, and Shyler.
She moved to the United States in 1989.
She worked as a machine operator for a medical manufacturing company called Quidel Corporation. She was medically retired after 20 years. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and survived bilateral mastectomy and chemo-therapy. Survived two open heart surgeries.
Our mother was a strong, independent, family oriented, and proud Filipino woman. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking traditional Filipino dishes. She would always help regardless of her financial status. She made yearly donations to the Saint Jude, cancer research, police and fire departments. She travelled to Philippines every 1-2 years to spend with her mother and siblings (family reunions).
