Irene "Tita" Reyes was born on February 22, 1930 to Adela Cota and Donaciano Reyes. She was born in Sonora, Arizona but at a young age her parents decided to move the family away to Durango, MX. In Durango she lived through the births of her two younger sisters Alicia and Gloria. While living in Durango Tita's mother built a very strong urge to see her mother which lived in Los Angeles, Ca. So she packed up her things and her four children and made the trip through Juarez, MX to Los Angeles. Here they lived for a few months until Adela realized she didn't like the life in the U.S so she made the choice to move to Tijuana, MX. When the family moved to Tijuana Adela and Tita's older brother Roberto went to work while Tita tended to Alicia and Gloria, becoming somewhat of a mother to them. Since she was the "second" mother in the home she taught herself how to sew in order to help repair any clothing that needed to be fixed. With the skill she had taught herself, she went to work in San Diego at Goodmans clothing factory as a seamstress; until Learners retail store was opened. Here is where she perfected her skill and worked for many years. For her leisure time she chose to see the world; Greece, Egypt, Israel, and the Carribean were just a few places that she enjoyed visiting. After her retirement from Learners Tita ventured into a whole different line of work in order to help her sister Gloria open up Happy Fiesta in La Paz, MX. After La Paz they successfully opened Party Productions in San Diego, Ca. Tita worked alongside her sister for years to come until it was time to retire. Needless to say Tita was an accomplished woman with many goals and successfully pursude them. Throughout her life Tita made very strong bonds with those around her due to the loyalty she held. Despite being a busy woman she always made time to Nurture and nourish her family. She was always there to put the needs of others before her own something her faith and mother taught her. Although she didn't have biological children she was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother to those of us here. She was loved by many and her love and guidance will forever be an essence within each and every one of us.
