J. Kellogg Burnham was born November 22, 1916 in Portland, Oregon. He spent his first thirteen years in ldaho, then moved with his family to California. Graduated Bachelor of Arts at UC Berkeley and learned German, French, ltalian, Spanish and some Latin.
While travelling in Mexico, he met young Alicia Horcasitas, whom he married, settling in Los Angeles until drafted by the Army to fight Japan on the Pacific front. During the war learned Japanese at Stanford University. Was honorably discharged.
Lived in Mexico for thirty-four years. They had four children, Mary Alice, Kellogg Jr., Herbert Russell and Cynthia Robin. First worked as Diplomat at U.S. Embassy and later quit to become miner, entrepreneur and business owner, with varying degrees of success. Returned to California in 1980 and established a marble business in Tijuana, working until his early nineties. Wrote two books of poetry and obtained many patents during his lifetime. Died March 19,2017, some four months after having reached age 100.
