Reed was a graduate of Sweetwater High School, Class of ’62. His high school years solidified and initiated life-long friendships, with many memories of “cruising” through Oscar’s Drive-In and driving fast cars at Otay Lakes.
Reed worked for 44 years for Crower Racing Cams, having been hired as their 7th employee in 1964. Reed loved the outdoors and fast machines. Throughout his adult life he could often be found driving his jet boat on the Colorado River, dune buggies in the desert, or golfing regularly with many different friends and groups. He golfed almost daily in his retirement years. He loved living in a golf course community with Debe. He was known in his community as one who would “help anyone in any way he could.”
Besides his parents, Reed was preceded in death by his younger brother, Larry W. Oliver (MaryAnn). He is survived by his long-time companion, Debe Liscum (and her children and grandchildren), his older brother, Calvin J. Oliver, his cousin and friend, Karen Williams, and many life-long friends.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 11:30 AM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, in Bonita.
Following the service, there will be a reception at a local Bonita restaurant for anyone who would like to spend more time together, in Reed’s memory. Please RSVP to Karen Williams, [email protected], or Amy Jo (Oliver) Akin, [email protected] so we can provide more info and have an accurate head count.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.glenabbeysandiego.net for the Oliver family.
