Jesse Thomas Perez Gogue, affectionately known by many as “Mas” or “Tom,” passed away on October 25, 2026, at the age of 52. Born on February 17, 1974, in Dededo, Guam, Jesse made his home in San Diego. To those who loved him, however, he was so much more than a name. He was a devoted husband, cherished son, beloved brother and uncle, and a loyal friend.
Those who knew Jesse Thomas will remember a man whose thoughtfulness and genuine kindness were not reserved for special occasions but were freely given in everyday moments. In both quiet and difficult times, he carried himself with a brave and selfless spirit. He met life with a loyal heart, a devoted presence, and an easy charm that made those around him feel welcome and at ease. Beloved by many, Jesse Thomas leaves behind a legacy defined not by grand gestures, but by the simple and enduring way he treated and respected others.
Jesse Thomas shared 28 years of love and life with his beloved wife, Betty, including 15 years of marriage. A proud “Momma’s boy,” he cherished his family and held a special place in the heart of his sister, Jessica, as her favorite—and only—brother. To his nieces and nephews, Eric Shaune, Sirena, Ryjah, Phoenix, Peyton, and Paxton, he was lovingly known as “Uncle Mas.” It was a name he carried with pride and a role he treasured with all his heart.
A faithful San Francisco 49ers fan, a loyal Los Angeles Dodgers fan, and a devoted Los Angeles Lakers fanatic, Jesse Thomas brought the same steadfast loyalty to his teams that he gave to the people he loved. He also had a special appreciation for hardbody Toyota trucks, an interest that reflected his admiration for things made strong and built to last.
Jesse Thomas lived by simple but meaningful words: “Be nice and be kind,” and “It costs nothing to be nice.” These words reflected not only what he believed, but the way he lived his life. In that spirit, his memory will continue to inspire gentleness, respect, compassion, and care for others. It is a lasting tribute to the life he lived, the kindness he showed, and the love he gave so freely.
Jesse Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his parents, Jesse Mendiola and Elaine Perez Gogue; his sister, Jessica Castro, and brother-in-law, Eric Castro; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Naputi; his in-laws, Joe, Jackysha, and Joaquin Peredo; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Eric Shaune Castro, Sirena Nykole Castro, Ryjah Zayne Castro, Phoenix Nicole Green, Peyton Cole Green, and Paxon Lee Green
