John J. Collins, 42, of San Diego, died June 23, 2019 as a result of unexpected heart failure. He was born October 16, 1976, the son of Michael and Helen (Kluk) Collins. He attended Valhalla High School and later graduated from California State University Long Beach in 2010, majoring in History. He was currently working in the financial security industry.
John is survived by his parents Michael and Helen of San Diego and his siblings: Katie, Stephen, Nathan, Michael, and Emily. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He was adored by his thirteen nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed.
John was an avid reader and a movie enthusiast. In his early days, he was heavily involved in a musical ensemble group. As a young adult, John was a member of the Order of Eagle of the Boy Scouts of America. He achieved his Eagle rank upon completion of a project clearing 7.5 miles of Pacific Crest Trail.
Burial services will be held at 9:30am, on Saturday, July 6th, at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Rd., Bonita, CA. Followed by a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14808 Lyons Valley Rd., Jamul, CA. Anyone who would like to pay their last respects is welcome.
