Dad,
It's been more than a month and it is still hard to believe that you aren't here. I am holding onto my memories of you. There were so many good times filled with laughter and love. Thank you for your steadfast loyalty. There is a special place in my heart that will always belong to you.

Myron and I are so glad we had our Kauai trip with you & Mike. Even though it rained THE ENTIRE TRIP (!), we got in plenty of quality time cooped up in the condo with all the naps, jigsaw puzzles and reading we did. And Portuguese sausage, don't forget about the Porguguese sausage.... : )

Mary, you & Mike are such special people and great friends. We have enjoyed your friendship since you moved to El Centro and started attending First Assembly. We had Bible study group with you as our Teacher. Then we played skipbo at Jackie's house,lots of meals together, and best of all our bowling partners. Yes we had alot of fun and enjoyed all of our times together. We are soooo going to miss stopping by to visit you and enjoy your stories you loved to share with us. Rest in peace dear Mike. We love you and will see you again soon in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Our deepest sympathy and condolenses to you Mary & all the family. We love you.  Gerald & Maxine

Grandpa,
I miss you every day and think of how much you meant to not only myself,but  many, many, many others!I want to say that your amazing, and I love you soo much! I will value the time we had together, and the memories of you forever. I am sad we didnt't get to come see you before you became ill, but I know we will all be together again some day. You are always going to be that man with such passion for life, that is full of inspiration, as well as wonderful stories!I cannot wait to pass on tree spanking to Garrett once he is older, he too will probably look at me like im crazy until hes older. I guess the funnier, and crazier times are the ones we never forget!This is why you wont ever be forgotten. I love you, and miss you. I know your visiting when your sending butterflies. I am happy your with the Lord, and at peace.

Uncle Mike, I am so sad that I did not get to know you and your big family a lot sooner, I was looking forward to getting to know that aide of the family I never knew. Aunt Marie and Aunt Barbara, my prayers are with you guys. now he can enjoy the angels in heaven with my mom, his sister Lupe!

Your "ME"

John Michael "Mike" Lopez arrived at his new home and final resting place with the Lord.  After a brief but fierce battle with stomach cancer Mike passed peacefully on 5/23/2012.  His wife Mary Elizabeth or "ME" at his side day and night, surrounded by their children, his sister Barbara and their grandchildren.  

Born in NM, Mike joined the Navy and moved to San Diego where he trained as a Medic.  Mike attended UCSD, then worked much of his career in Retail Management.  Mike and Mary moved to the Imperial Valley where he managed a Smart and Final.  They went on to own and operate the Chem Dry of Imperial Valley before starting their own successful janitorial company.  

Recently retired, they returned to San Diego to be close to family.  Mike is survived by his wife Mary of 37 years, a sister Barbara, 9 children, 34 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held June 29, 2012 at 1:00pm at The Little Chapel of Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, CA.
