

A U.S. Navy Veteran, long-time El Cajon resident, Joe retired from the National City School District, and was previously employed at Guam Commercial Port. He competed in softball, pool, bowling, and pingpong while living on Guam. He loved music and was an excellent guitarist... a talent he inherited from his father.
He was a member of the Sons & Daughters of Guam Club, Inc.

His Grandparents: Felix Reyes and Maria Crisostomo S.A. Benavente, Vicenta Leon Guerrero Quichocho. Parents: Pedro S.A. Benavente and Josefa Quichocho Quitugua. Sister: Julia Benavente Sarrosa. Stepfather: Florencio A. Quitugua. In-laws: Jose R. & Dina P. Chaco, Bill Chaco, Milan Chaco, John Christensen, Hilda S. Chaco and Joe Bousquet.
Joe will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of his wife of 52 years, Dorothy "Dot" Perez Chaco Benavente, daughter MaryAnn B. & Mike Alvarez: Michael & Lauren (Kensington, and Brennen. Son James Benavente: Vincent. Son Jack Benavente: Maia & Ari Rittman (Archer), Bryson and Blayne. Son Ken Benavente. Son Ben & Ariana Benavente: Jacob, Mason and Isabela.

Jose will also be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews, relatives & friends.
Nightly rosary at 7 p.m. at the family residence. Last respects may be offered on Monday, April 21, 2014 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. and Memorial service at 10:00 a.m at the Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m.
