Growing up as a child and a teenager, I was at my Tio Jose and Aunt Carmen's house more than anywhere besides my own home. It was like my second home. As you get older, you realize how important all the big and small memories are. I remember the small ones like it was yesterday.... taking trips to the liquor store with my uncle and my cousins. I remember him watching John Wayne movies, with a Budweiser in his hand and a remote in the other. Hanging outside in the driveway or backyard with my Dad and friends. Carne asadas on the weekends after work. Tio Jose was one of a kind, like no other. I'll always be thankful to him and my Aunt for always making me feel like I had a second home. He might be gone but never forgotten. Agradezco que fuiste como fuiste Tio. Fuiste único.

44 years ago my family arrived from Tijuana, Mexico. Not having a place to live Jose and Carmen let us stay with them for a while until we found our own home in Clairemont. Even after moving out we would spend many weekends in their home. I will forever be Thankful to them and their hospitality.
Thank you Jose and Carmen Cordova,
Maria Ramirez
(Miguel and Elvira Ramirez's older daughter)
