There are no words to express how much I miss you. You left a void and an emptiness in my heart that no one could ever fill. I will always love you and miss you dearly. You were my rock that I leaned on for over 50 years. And with tears in my eyes I saw you take your last breath, which broke my heart in two. I know that you can't come back to me, but one day I will go to you and we will be together again.

Loving you always,

I remember Mr. Jose Luis for his great smile and sense of humor. Always positive and as I learned, always ready to teach you one of life's great lessons.
Joe and I were about 15 I believe. I spent the night at their house because it was my birthday. Joe and I had planned to go hangout with friends or something. The next day Mr. Jose luis woke us up at 5 in the morning and told us to get ready because we had to go work! I remember Joe saying: " Dad not today its Vicente's birthday!". He turned and said "Oh happy birthday! Feliz cumpleaños! Today you are going to learn one of lifes great lessons. Hard work! See you downstairs". Moses and Daniel just laughed.
So Joe his brothers and I spent the day working hard. Planting iceplant on these HUGE slopes until we finally finished. I remember lying down because I was so sore. And with that big smile he asked: "So how was your birthday?". We all just laughed.
Mr. Jose Luis thank you for the memories. It was a priviledge to have met you.
To Ms. Alma, Michael, Moses, Daniel, Joe and all your family, our hearts and prayers go out to you.

Jose Luis, you were a good husband to my sister a great father to your sons and a loving and caring grandfather to your grandchildren. I always admired your positive attitude to life and commitment to share the gospel. A memory of a conversation we had a year ago at Joe and Bernice’s pool party, changed the way I perceive things each day. You said, “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Thank you for sharing this with me. You will be missed not only by your family, but by anyone that had the opportunity to have met you.

My first memory of Jose Luis was when we went to visit Tia Esperanza. He drove us to a strange place called Taco Bell and got us tacos. That was the first we'd ever heard of Taco Bell. They were not in Kansas City.
He was always jovial and outgoing. Michael, if you are just like him you are on a good path. People remember the little things you do. And a smile is a gift that costs you nothing but means a great deal to others. Jose Luis was a giver and I remember him fondly.

Mr. Jose, this is what my kids and I affectionately called our dear neighbor of more than 8 years. Mr. Jose, we miss seeing you outside and greeting you with a Buenos Diaz. We will miss your conversations about landscape, realestate, your faith in God, your boys, and how when your first met your wife and how beautiful and smart she was and still is! .....We could always count on your smile to make it a brighter day. Thank you for that. I know you are in God's hands. Many continued blessings to your family.......Julie and family.

José Luis , I am truly grateful for both you and Lety . You both shared the gospel of Christ way back in 1979. You planted a seed inside of both Ivan & I. I loved all the times you would share how God loved us and that he died for my sins. And also the time you invited us to church, we dedicated Ivan at your church. Those are the most treasured memories we have. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” Brother you have arrived and now are with those who also have gone ahead. We long for that day . You’ll forever be remembered. See you on our day. In Christ , Ivan & Sandra

Dad, I just realized something... that I am a lot like you. You always were trying to make everyone laugh. You always had a smile on your face. I will always cherish the moments where we would speak in foreign I'm languages like Chinese and Japanese. I will never forget when we would sing to your favorite singer Andre Boceli in Italian. Yup. I am just like you. Like father like son. You will always be remembered but never forgotten. I will see you soon dad. Love always your son Michael Caesar.

José, affectionately known by our kids as Tata, taught my son one of his first life lessons. It was the value of money and taking care of your belongings. My son dropped a pair of glasses. José told him to be careful because the glasses costs a lot of money. One day, before we left to “Nana’s house” he says “Mom, don’t loose you glasses, Tata said they cost a lot of money.” We thought it was weird but later found out the back story :) We love you and miss you.

I will always appreciate how much you enjoyed life! Your sense of humor was one-of-a-kind and I'll forever be grateful to have shared in the many laughs. I will never forget the early mornings as a teenager when my dad would drop me off to go plant ice plant with you and the boys. Those days have shaped us all into the men we are today!

Please give my Nana, Tata, Tio and Angel a big hug and kiss from me! I'm sure they can't wait to laugh with you.

Love you,
