We still can't believe you're gone after seeing you and your beautiful family back in June.  We thought we would have more time with you but God had something else in mind.  Thank you for being an awesome first cousin.  For always having that amazing smile but moreso a humble heart.  Rest in Peace cuz, and when you meet up with Uncle David my dad give him a hug for us.  

Dear Family,

Teddy was one of those men who are beyond rare. I worked with him for many years at SDCJ, someone I always spoke about with other deputies as an example for us all. He worked so hard every day, never complained, and was always positive on an exceptional level. He was and will always be a legend of the department. I will always feel proud to have worked beside him and learned from him.

Always remember, grieving must happen and it is natural to go through the stages. Once that is done, always live in the positive memories. Honor his life for all the good he was and the joy he brought, never focus on the vacancy of him in your life. If your thoughts are on what he brought to your life, not what he left behind, then he will continue to bring you happiness.

My partner and friend in video court at CJ. Thank you for keeping me calm. Thank you for being one of the most consistent, reliable  persons I have met.  It was a pleasure working with you and just being a good friend. 

You will be missed my brother....

You always prepared me to be independent ever since you taught me how to ride a bike without training wheels. You would hold the seat so I could balance myself and before I knew it, you would let go and I would take off on my own. Every time you let go, I would panic and fall. It took a few falls before I got used to the idea that you would eventually let me go. I didn't appreciate it then but you made me tough and competent in handling life now that you're not physically in this realm anymore.

I remember how excited you were during the Sheriff academy days. You would come home and practice defense tactics with me. I know how to headlock someone in seconds because of you. I'm also a fan of stashing a billy club in my home for self-defense. I'll always think of your dad humor and the way you would wear your huge sun hat during barbecues or how you set the bar high for my idea of what an honest, hard-working person looks like. 

Somehow, I feel like you're not actually gone. The smell of fresh laundry, the jingling of keys, black beanies, and the texture of garden gloves will always remind me of you.

Even when I look at my face, I see you looking right back at me. Half of me is you.
