
Juanito Marasigan Chavez was born June 24, 1929, in Cuenca, Batangas, Philippines to Elisa Marasigan and Dr. Honesto Chavez. Juanito passed away on October 4, 2023.
Growing up, Juanito attended elementary school in Cuenca, high school in Batangas City and received a bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from Far Eastern University in Manila.
After college Juanito worked for the Philippine government before joining the US Navy in 1954. Through another family member Juanito met the love of life, Lourdes. In 1959, Juanito and Lourdes married. Together and for the next 20 years the two traveled and lived in various locations throughout the nation and the world before settling in San Diego, where they finished raising their two children Adriel “John” and Aimee.
After retiring from the US Navy, Juanito continued to work for the Navy as a civilian auditor before retiring a second time. After retirement, Juanito remained active and involved in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Juanito was a devoted family man, he liked to fish and was a handyman around the house. More importantly he loved spending time with his family.
Juanito is survived by his children, son Adriel John, daughter and son in law, Aimee & James, his sister Rosalinda, his brother Renato, his grandchildren Julian, Steffen and Ciara, great grandchildren Anahlu, Aniella, Nyjah and Kai and his many nieces and nephews.
We love you, Papa. We will miss you dearly.
A Visitation for Juanito will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Glen Abbey Mortuary's Magnolia Room. A Funeral Mass will occur Monday, October 30, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Charles Catholic Church. A Committal Service will occur Monday, October 30, 2023 from 1:15 PM to 1:45 PM at Miramar National Cemetery.
