After high school, she shared twenty-four years of marriage with Kenneth Taylor, with whom she raised her three children – Jon, Lisa, and Keri - in the Spring Valley and Bonita communities of South Bay.
Diane began her teaching career as a special education assistant at the Ann Daly Center in Bonita, where she was deeply valued for her gift in connecting with children with special needs. She later embarked on a long and determined pursuit of higher education, beginning at Southwestern College and ultimately earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts from San Diego State University. Her journey spanned more than eight years of persistent study, early mornings, and late nights - in an era before online classes and electronic communication. In the early-1990’s, she became the Director of Small Wonders Preschool at the Boys & Girls Club of Chula Vista. During her decades there, Diane touched the lives of generations of local children. Her work was a true vocation, through which she shared an extraordinary gift for connecting with children and nurturing them with warmth and joy.
Diane was a loving mother to Jon Taylor (Jen), Lisa Taylor (Kelly Harris), Keri Crovella (Dennis); a doting grandmother to her eight grandchildren (Brennan, Kerissa, Madi, Jackson, Connor, Cooper, Ryan, and Sammy); an adoring great-grandmother to her three great-grandchildren; a cherished sister to Mike Skiles (Treasa), Cathy McCarty (Steve), and Barbara Gauthier (Dale); a fun-loving aunt to eight nieces and nephews (and their spouses); as well as a beloved presence in the lives of her seventeen grand-nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Skyline Church in Rancho San Diego on Monday, October 26th at 1:00 PM.
