

Lelita Fonseca Fuentecilla was born in Palauig, Zambales, Philippines on August 9, 1918 to Maria conception Delos Reyes and Ignacio Fonseca. Lelita married Alfredo B. Fuentecilla on May 7, 1939 at San Felipe Roman Catholic Church in San Felipe, Zambales, a devoted wife & a superb mother to nine children: Fenina, Wilfredo & Norma, Raul, Delia, Benito Jose, Cheng, Carmel, Merlina, Eduardo & Milagros. She had Seven Grandchildren, Eight Great Grandchildren and One Great-Great Grandchild. She was a great fashion designer who appreciated beauty in all forms.
Lelita lived a full life at Ninety-Four & a half years. She was the glue that bonded her family together, with love and guidance, she raised her children in a loving and nurturing way, assuring everyone was raised as God fearing individual. She was a sociable diva who enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives at home & other venues. She had traveled far away places to be with relatives and friends to share their blessings. She was an accomplished traveler and enjoyed pilgrimage to various religious shrines.
Lelita’s golden years were spent in a peaceful routine of prayers, reflections and reading the Holy Bible. Every morning, she joined Mother Angelica prayed the Holy Rosary, followed by the daily Holy Mass at home and every Sunday morning she joined in the celebration of the Healing Eucharist Mass thru TFC. She looked forward every Sunday for afternoon Mass and enjoyed greeting friends and acquaintances afterwards. In her solitude times, she spent reading passages from the bible and other religious books and materials. She loved to entertain friends and relatives who visited her at home; she participated in any outdoor activities such as picnics and camping. She liked watching her favorite shows such as the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, the Filipino programs like the teleseries, as well as the current news around the world. She was an avid Padres fan as well. Routinely, before retiring for the night, she prayed with her granddaughter.
During her prime years she was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League, the Apostleship of Prayer, the Cursillo in Christianity and the Novena prayers and Block Rosary honoring the various Marian devotions to our Blessed Virgin Mary, the Infant Jesus and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She sponsored the reading of the Passion of Christ (Passion, a Filipino tradition) during lent. She hosted visiting priests from the Philippines to her home. She was a dedicated member of the Eucharistic Ministry and the Miracle Choir at St. Michael’s parish.
Her children surrounded Lelita when she took her last breath. She fought a hard battle for her health just to be with the family a little longer and with God’s blessings…said her last goodbye on February 5, 2013 to her family in San Diego. Yes, Lelita is now with Our Lord Jesus Christ; together with husband Alfredo and sons Wilfredo & Raul in the Heavenly Kingdom of God, the Almighty.
Lelita left a legacy full of love, generosity, respect, friendship & spirituality to all whom she had touched.
