To my cousin Lia,

I still remember the first time we met when our moms introduced us during our enrollment in High School.  We were both surprised to see a relative we have never seen before🙂. It was a funny moment but an unforgettable memory of you❤️

The last time I saw you in the Philippines was 10 years after we graduated when you and your Dad came to see my family in 1994.  

Although we did not have the time to see each other after that,  I am thankful that we were able to keep in touch and send messages to each other. 

Till we meet again cousin.  Rest In Peace.

So many sweet memories together, as our beautiful girls grew up together. From laughing together while the girls were in cooking class all the way to McMillin and having them grow into beautiful young ladies and graduate high school together. There was never a time, you didn’t have a smile on your face. I always enjoyed my Target outings, as I would run into your beautiful face there, you will be missed. Until we meet again, my dear angel. 👼 🙏🏼💕

I think I used to firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. But when this all started happening to you, I couldn’t bring myself to find a reason why the universe wanted you to suffer. I’m coming to terms with the fact that I’ll never find a reason as to why this had to happen. Terrible things happen to the best of people, and no one will be able to tell me why this is now the reality I have to live with. All I’m sure of is that now, you don’t have to suffer. You don’t have to feel pain anymore, and I focus on that when I’m feeling selfish and want you back on this earth with me. But when I say I want you back, I know I’m thinking of the superficial, your body that was a home to your soul, the physical version of you that I could hold and cry to and laugh with and call my mom. In reality though, no matter how much I miss your physical self, you’ll always be with me. And you’ve always been with me. You’re alive in Daddy’s determination to take us all around the globe, and especially back to your home in the Philippines. You’re alive in Kassie’s longing to go to New York and start the next chapter of her life there. You’re alive in my own promise to graduate from UCLA in the next few years and take on the world like you always wanted me to. You’re alive in the soul of every single person you’ve touched in your time here. So, I know you’re not really gone. You’re all around me, in the love that our village has shown us when we needed them most. Of course, I’ll still miss you though, Mom, and I always will. But there’s a certain sense of peace and relief I feel when I know that you’re watching over me now. You’ll protect me for the rest of my life, and I have complete trust in the fact that you’ll guide me to where I need to be. You truly are the reason I never think twice, Mom. It was a blessing to be loved by, and to love you. Kassie and I will make you proud, but I know you already know that. I love you for forever and for infinity after that. Thank you

Lia and I are cousins. We were born on the same year, she on March 2 and I on June 17. Growing up we were friends, playmates and enemies.  She would always make me cry.  But at the end of the day we would end up just having fun.  As kids we spend Sundays at our Lola's house. Just hanging out, laughing and enjoying good food.   
As adults  our chats were focused on family and our memories growing up.  At one point we talked about going on a trip when we retire. Just the 2 of us. 
Lia is a woman of strength with a very kind heart. I will always remember that smile and giggle. 
Rest well my dear Lia. Have fun up there with the rest of the clan.

Lia, we have known each other for almost 41 years, since 1980 as we went for high school at Saint Paul ‘s College of Manila.

Our friendship was nurtured when we went to De La Salle University in Taft. Our favourite hobby in between classes was people watching in SPS canteen, Aristocrat and of course in Pebble Wash. 

Lucky that we were able to live together in Hong Kong for 4 years. Our time together here was memorable and I cherish all the time you spent with me whilst you were on your ground duty.

Our trip in New York was epic and our last. 
We had long lunches and didn’t bother visiting tourist attractions as were busy talking about life. 

Rest in peace Lia! How lucky we are that you were part of our lives.

I love you very much and I will miss you. 



Last July 15, 2019, Lia & Family were in town and a lunch was set by my Mom for everyone to get together.  I remember having a big event on that day but I chose the Family lunch over the event.  That turned out to be my final lunch with dear Lia and I’m so grateful for that precious opportunity to have spent that day with her!
She has been a part of our family for over twenty years since she and my cousin Ray got together and has always been a bright shining light for everyone!  I thank God for blessing us with Lia’s presence in our lives!! Her beautiful daughters will definitely continue her legacy in this world!  I know she will be watching over my cousin Ray, the kids, her family etc from above! And her beautiful memories will always stay alive in our hearts! Luv u Cuz! - Reggie 

Lia, it was a shock to hear of your passing, you were a bright light to so many, when anyone saw you, it was always happiness they saw, your big smile, and your kindness always brightened someone's day, you will be truly missed, you were taken soon, people say  God must have needed another angel, well he truly got one in you, you will be loved always and never forgotten

Her smile... it will always be her smile!  And the few times we would run into each other she always spoke so highly about her girls.   That’s what us moms would do- always talk about... our kids.   The memories I will hold dear are the times we would see each other on Sunday Mass at Mater Dei... it’s been years, but seeing the Javiers together was always nice.
