Librada Maylas Defante

She was an elementary school teacher in the Philippines. She taught third grade at Daniel Fajardo Elementary School for 15 years. On May 1982, she and her husband decided to move to the U.S. with their two children. They settled and began their new life in National City California. She retired in 2014 from Remec Electronics.

Librada was a loving sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend She lived a simple life- always encouraging, fair and a hard worker. She was selfless, kind and generous to everyone. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Most of all she enjoyed watching her five grandsons grow up and guiding them along the way. As stated by her oldest grandson "She is the happiest when she is with her family."

Librada is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eusebio Defante. Children Alex Defante and Angeline Jacob. Daughter in law Marife Defante and son in law Mel Jacob. Grandsons Andrew Defante, Matthew Defante, Eric Jacob, Ian Jacob and Evan Jacob. We will miss her greatly but she will forever stay in our hearts.

An evening visitation for Librada will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Glen Abbey's "Little Chapel of the Roses", 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St Mary 's Catholic Church, 426 E 7th St, National City, California 91950. A graveside service will occur Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, California 91902.
